This May 23, 2019 we held our 4th Annual Special Needs conference hosted at Champlain College (RAC program).
Our the theme this year was EMPATHY IN ACTION.
The day was opened by our Keynote Speaker Kathryn Peterson and followed by a selection of ten workshops that focused on both acquiring knowledge and skills. The workshops provided skills by engaging participants while learning.
The over 240 participants came from the south shore, Montreal, West Island, Gaspe, Gatineau, Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland! This year we held a networking lunch where participants were able to sit at tables with themes that reflected topics of interest such as Autism, Youth Empowerment, Young children, Child & Youth Care Council and others....
This year we had the CIUSSS-West Island on the premises offering job opportunities in their organization. This activity was appreciated by both the participants and the CIUSSS.
The overall feedback has been extremely positive. The participant continue to appreciate this annual training. As well they really like the ability to earn six training hours for the Quebec Order of Social Workers.
We are looking forward to the planning for next year!
The date for next year’s conference will be announced at a later date but it will be like all other years, in the month of May!
